Geotbasokgop, formerly Cheonsa Gopchang, is a gopchang spot in Beomgye Rodeo about 3 minutes from Beomgye Station Exit 2. This review covers the late-night hours, parking support, two-floor seating, Hanwoo assorted gopchang, Buldak noodles, and fried rice.

Hello! Today I visited Geotbasokgop, a gopchang spot in Beomgye. It used to be Cheonsa Gopchang, but the name has changed. I used to come often when it was Cheonsa Gopchang, and I heard it became even tastier after the renewal, so I went back.

Geotbasokgop in Beomgye Rodeo near Beomgye Station Exit 2

The location is Beomgye Rodeo. It is about a 3-minute walk from Beomgye Station Exit 2, and it is on the central street, so it was easy to find. Hours: 16:00–04:00 Because it stays open late, you can still get hot gopchang even if you visit at a late hour. Parking: Parking is available. The source notes parking on basement levels 3–5 of the Hansol Central Park building, with 2 hours supported. Be sure to tell the owner about parking.

First-floor atmosphere at Geotbasokgop Beomgye with two-level seating

Right when you enter, you see the first-floor atmosphere. The restaurant also has a second floor, so it feels cozy and nice. There is a TV in the middle, so you can watch sports broadcasts too.

Second-floor seating at Geotbasokgop Beomgye with chair storage

The first floor was full when I visited, so I ate on the second floor. The second floor was also comfortable. I liked that the chairs had backrests, and you could put your clothes inside the chair so they would not smell oily.

Basic side dishes at Geotbasokgop including kimchi, buchu, bean sprouts, yukhoe, and beef radish soup

The basic side dishes included kimchi, buchu, bean sprouts—these are so good later when you put them on the gopchang—plus pickled cabbage, yukhoe, and beef radish soup. The beef radish soup was good enough to be a highlight. If you have a glass of soju with the broth, the gopchang comes out before you know it.

Hanwoo assorted gopchang, Buldak noodles, and fried rice order at Geotbasokgop

Hanwoo assorted gopchang Buldak-bokkeum-myeon Fried rice

Since I needed room for a side menu and fried rice, I ordered just two servings of the assorted gopchang. As expected from a Beomgye gopchang place, they also had instructions on how to eat it deliciously.

Assorted gopchang with makchang, daechang, rice cakes, and vegetables at Geotbasokgop

The set included gopchang, makchang, daechang, rice cakes, vegetables, and more. First, you should eat the rice cakes. Dip the tteok in the garlic sauce they serve with it. That garlic sauce is the real kick, and it goes perfectly with the rice cakes. While you are eating the rice cakes, the gopchang gets nicely browned. The owner kept checking and grilling it for us, making sure it did not burn and explaining the best way to eat everything.

Owner-grilled gopchang cooked crispy outside and chewy inside at Geotbasokgop

The owner grilled it so the outside was crisp and the inside stayed chewy. They also removed oil in the middle and explained the eating order and good combinations. Every time I come here, I feel that the owner is genuinely kind and serious about gopchang. To be honest, I have visited four times, and including the staff, this place has never once felt unfriendly.

They grill everything for you like this. You can just sit still and eat as it is served.

Crispy gopchang served with chili at Geotbasokgop Beomgye

The outside was really crispy, almost like it had a fried coating, and it tasted great. I like eating it with chili so it does not feel too rich, and the combination was just right.

Buldak noodle pairing with daechang, bean sprouts, and buchu

Buldak is a must. The owner told us a great Buldak pairing: daechang + bean sprouts + buchu + Buldak Try it exactly this way. It is the real deal.

Fried rice finish after gopchang at Geotbasokgop Beomgye

Fried rice is also essential; there is no way I could leave without eating it. This is the kind of Beomgye gopchang spot where soju goes down easily. I really recommend Geotbasokgop—definitely give it a try.
