A personal review of Sadang Heonsang, a Korean dining pub near Sadang Station Exit 11. The two-person Today’s Heonsang set included seasonal sashimi, kimchi-jjim, bossam, green onion pancake, namul pot rice, and maesaengi noodles with Honey Pear makgeolli.

Sadang Heonsang Korean dining pub review in Sadang

Hi! Today I visited Sadang with a friend. We went to a Korean dining pub called Sadang Heonsang. The Heonsang set looked so good that I made a reservation in advance before going. It felt just right for a gathering in Sadang, so save this one and consider visiting later.

This is what the entrance looked like — it had a rather grand feel. Come out of Sadang Station Exit 11 and walk straight; you can spot it right away in the building on the right. After getting off the elevator, it is immediately on the left, so it was easy to find. 📍Business hours 12:00-23:00 Break time: 15:00-17:00 Last order: 22:00 📍Parking Parking is not available.

Interior seating at Sadang Heonsang with group tables and bar seating

I reserved for two people. I visited on a Friday, and there were quite a lot of reserved seats. It looked like there were some seats open, but they were all reserved. Inside, there are large tables that work for groups and bar tables that are nice for a more intimate meal. Since there were two of us, we ate at the bar table.

Pre-set tableware at Sadang Heonsang

The tableware was already set in advance. The small bowls were cute.

Order at Sadang Heonsang for Today’s Heonsang for two and Honey Pear makgeolli

Today’s Heonsang for 2 Honey Pear makgeolli

The set came with seasonal sashimi, kimchi-jjim, bossam, green onion pancake, namul pot rice, and maesaengi noodles. It was a really good lineup. The dishes worked both as a meal and as drinking food. The menu composition seems similar for two or three people, and when ordering the four-person Heonsang, grilled fish is included.

First dishes from the Today’s Heonsang set including pot rice, sashimi, suyuk, and kimchi-jjim

After ordering, the pot rice, sashimi, suyuk, and kimchi-jjim came out first. The pot rice was portioned into individual bowls, making it easy to eat. The sashimi of the day was yellowtail. Because we were sitting at the bar table, I got to watch them slice the yellowtail right in front of me, and it was so interesting that I kept watching. The pot rice seemed to have gondre greens in it. It felt like a healthy, nourishing rice dish, which made me like it even more.

Honey Pear makgeolli served with Korean food at Sadang Heonsang

For drinks that day, we chose Honey Pear makgeolli. It was sweet, fizzy, and refreshingly cool, so it paired really well with the Korean food.

Yellowtail sashimi with kkosiraegi seaweed at Sadang Heonsang

When the yellowtail came out, it was served with kkosiraegi seaweed too. The texture was lively, which made it even better. The yellowtail was fresh, chewy, and delicious. My favorite way to eat it was with a little kkosiraegi and just a bit of wasabi.

Tender kimchi-jjim with aged kimchi and meat at Sadang Heonsang

The kimchi-jjim was seriously tender. I saw them take it out of a pressure pot, so this one felt very real. The kimchi was fully aged mukeunji, and it tasted even better with the soft meat. The meat was very tender and boneless, so it was easy to eat. There were three large pieces inside, so the portion was generous too.

Ssamjang, kimchi, pickles, and wrap vegetables served with the meal

They also brought ssamjang, kimchi, pickles, and leafy wrap vegetables so everything would be easy to eat together. The pickled gungchae was the key point. It was salty-savory, and because it had perilla, it tasted nutty too. So good.

Suyuk eaten in wraps with garlic and chili at Sadang Heonsang

The suyuk was also excellent. Honestly, nothing here tasted bad. I ate the suyuk wrapped in greens. Adding one piece of garlic and one chili pepper to the wrap was just right. It was boiled well with no unpleasant smell, and it was soft and delicious.

This was before the green onion pancake and noodles came out, but take a look first. It was only a portion for two people, but it was incredibly generous.

Crispy green onion pancake served with seasoned soy sauce

The green onion pancake became my favorite. And yes, we had ordered makgeolli too. The size was a little bigger than my palm, but the thickness was unbelievable. It was made almost as if it had been fried, so it was very crispy, and because it was thick, it felt even crispier. I love pancakes that are not soggy anywhere and stay crispy throughout. The seasoned soy sauce served with it also matched the pancake well. There were Cheongyang chilies inside, so I put one chili piece on each bite, and it was spicy and delicious.

Maesaengi noodles with refreshing broth at Sadang Heonsang

The noodles were maesaengi noodles. The broth was really refreshing and tasty. It felt like an anchovy broth, and it went well with the maesaengi. It came out at the end of the meal, so I was already full, but it was so good that I kept eating. It felt almost like a full one-person serving of noodles. The portion was large, and I was honestly a little sad that I could not finish it all.

Generous Korean course-style meal at Sadang Heonsang

I was very, very satisfied with this visit to Sadang Heonsang. The atmosphere was lovely, and the Korean-style interior stood out in a way that looked really pretty to me. The food came out neatly, and above all, it was generous. I think even two men might have leftovers from this amount. I recommend it if you want a place where you can eat until you are truly full. It also had a slightly course-meal feel, so I think it would be nice for a date or an introductory meetup. Because the dishes come out in a variety of styles, it seems like a good place to make a positive impression. If you want a hearty Korean meal with drinks in the evening, I recommend Sadang Heonsang. #SadangBar #SadangRestaurant #SadangMeal #SadangFood #SadangDate #SadangIntroDate #SadangCourseMeal #SadangKoreanFood #SadangKoreanPub #SadangMakgeolli #SeoulBar #SeoulHotPlace #SadangHotPlace
