Anyang Ilbeonga lamb skewers and lamb ribs reviewed without a gamey smell

Hi! Today I visited a lamb skewer spot in Anyang Ilbeonga after hearing it was a good place for yangkkochi. I had passed by it often and finally made it in. I did not go in with huge expectations, but it turned out much tastier than I expected, which was a nice surprise.

Four-person tables and spacious seating at the Anyang Ilbeonga lamb skewer restaurant

There was plenty of seating. All the tables were set up as four-person tables, so it felt spacious and comfortable for two. The center table was large enough for about eight people, so it also seems suitable for a group visit.

The restaurant is located inside Anyang Ilbeonga, in the building right next to the clothing shop Moyen. It is also on the side that is close to Anyang Station and Daengnidan-gil, so access is convenient. Hours: 12:00–24:00 Last order: 23:30 Parking: Unfortunately, on-site parking is not available. A nearby public parking lot should work instead.

Because the nearby public parking option is inexpensive, close to Ilbeonga Yangkkochi, and free after 10 p.m., I would recommend using that.

Menu section listing set menu, onmyeon, soju, and beer at the lamb skewer restaurant

Set menu Onmyeon Soju, beer

I wanted to try several kinds of lamb skewers, so I ordered a set menu with a good mix. After eating, I’d say it is a pretty generous amount for two people. The set included spicy lamb skewers, seasoned lamb skewers, lamb rib meat, and mala rib skewers. I was most excited for the mala ribs, and they really were delicious.

Side dishes with peanuts, zhacai, pickled onions, and seasonings for lamb skewers

The basic side dishes came out well: peanuts, zhacai, and pickled onions, exactly the things you need. Extra seasonings such as cumin, sauce, and salt were in the spoon drawer, so it was easy to season everything to taste.

Assorted set menu with spicy lamb skewers, mala ribs, lamb ribs, and seasoned lamb skewers

The set menu arrived. The left side looked like the spicy lamb skewers and mala ribs, and the right side looked like lamb ribs and seasoned lamb skewers. We started by grilling the unseasoned lamb ribs first.

Large lamb skewers rotating over the grill at an Anyang Ilbeonga restaurant

The heat was just right, and the skewers rotated nicely. Some pieces of meat were so big that they stopped turning, but honestly I liked that; I love big pieces of meat. I prepared two dipping options, one seasoning mix with cumin and one with salt. At first I tried the meat with just a little salt, and it was so good without any gamey smell. The outside was crisp and the inside was tender. It was seriously impressive.

Thick lamb skewers grilling with thinner skewers to help them rotate evenly

Because some pieces were large and did not rotate smoothly, we alternated them with thinner skewers while grilling. They cooked faster than expected, and watching the skewers turn was fun.

It looked really appetizing. If you press play on the video, the combination of somaek, a soju-and-beer mix, and lamb skewers becomes very hard to resist.

Onmyeon noodle soup ordered as a side dish with lamb skewers

I also tried onmyeon, which I always order at lamb skewer restaurants. If you want a simple soup or noodle side with drinks, try onmyeon. I recommend it. The flavor reminded me of shrimp-flavored ramen, and the noodles were pleasantly chewy and cooked well.

Crisp-grilled lamb skewers with juicy meat inside

I prefer lamb skewers grilled until crisp, so I cooked them like this. Even so, the inside stayed moist and juicy. The seasoned skewers were tasty in their own way, and the spicy lamb skewers were genuinely very spicy, so be careful. I like spicy food, so I enjoyed them even while feeling the heat, but this was not just mildly spicy; it was quite hot. The mala version also had a noticeable mala aroma, which made it different and delicious. I recommend it for anyone who likes malatang.

Final lamb skewer meal with thick meat, lamb ribs, and mala flavors in Anyang Ilbeonga

If you are looking for lamb skewers in Anyang Ilbeonga without a gamey smell, I highly recommend this place. The meat was thick, and it grilled well without losing the juices, so the meal was really enjoyable. If you order a set menu plus one side dish, it would probably be just right for two men or three women. The owner was kind and quickly brought anything we needed, so this is a spot I would want to revisit. #AnyangRestaurant #AnyangStationRestaurant #AnyangIlbeongaRestaurant #AnyangLambSkewers #AnyangLambRibs #AnyangLambSkewersRestaurant #IlbeongaYangkkochi #AnyangStationLambSkewers #AnyangStationBar #MalaLambSkewers
