Tteokseullang Sanbon Mara Tteokbokki Review
A lunch review of Tteokseullang Sanbon Branch in Gunpo, where I ordered mara tteokbokki and steamed egg near Sanbon Station and found the toppings generous and chewy.
Hello, this is Ijjingne. At lunch today I suddenly wanted mara so badly. It had been a while since my last mara fix, so I guess it was about time.

Tteokseullang Sanbon Branch had mara tteokbokki, so lunch was decided. It is on the main street of Sanbon Central Shopping District. It is close to Sanbon Station, about five minutes on foot. Hours: 11:00-21:40 Break time: 15:00-15:30

There was a standing sign made from Baemin reviews, and even at a glance the reviews looked very real. It was my first time trying Tteokseullang, but I already trusted it before eating.

Inside, there is a kiosk toward the back. You need to choose the spice level, and there were quite a few tteokbokki and side options, so ordering by kiosk was convenient. Sanbon Tteokseullang also had coupons.

I think there were about six or seven seats inside. There were tables for groups and seats where you could eat while looking out the window. We chose an inner table.

Mara tteokbokki Steamed egg
The set menus looked good, but the tteokbokki was already for two to three people. For two women, it felt like too much, so we ordered the mara tteokbokki on its own and steamed egg to mellow out the heat.

They cook after ordering. After waiting about 10 minutes, the mara tteokbokki arrived. The portion was huge, and there were so many toppings.

It had all the mara toppings I like, especially yubu. The steamed egg had a round of sesame oil on top, so it was nutty and seasoned just right. Even though it was ttukbaegi steamed egg, nothing stuck to the bottom, so it was soft with no burnt smell.

Two things I would miss if they were not in mara tteokbokki: bunmoja and wide Chinese glass noodles. There was plenty of both. At some other places they get overcooked and mushy, but at Sanbon Tteokseullang they were cooked well and stayed chewy.

My favorite topping, yubu, soaked up the sauce and tasted even better. The fish cake and bunmoja were also chewy and cooked well, so I kept reaching for them.

The beef brisket had a serious smoky flavor and went really well with the tteokbokki. The menu also had beef brisket tteokbokki, and I think that would be delicious too. The essentials, rice cakes and Vienna sausages, were generous. There were quail eggs too, but I ate too quickly to get a photo.
Steamed egg with mara tteokbokki was a great pairing. I may not be able to eat other tteokbokki now; Tteokseullang was that good. My companion and I promised to come again, and next time we plan to try the spicy rose flavor.

I highly recommend Sanbon Tteokseullang for big portions and lots of different toppings. I still cannot forget that mara flavor.
