A personal lunch review of Haebim near Mokpo Peace Square, known for crab meat seaweed bibimbap. Includes my impressions of the food, seating, waiting, hours, and nearby public parking.

Hello! I recently visited Mokpo in Jeollado, and this is my review of the crab meat bibimbap I had at Haebim. I went because I heard it was a restaurant featured in a Jigu Mabul episode with Wonji. Since I arrived right when it opened, I was able to sit down and eat right away. By the time I left, though, there was already a waiting line. I did not know at first that it had been on a show, so that was a surprise!

The color looked amazing. You mix the seaweed and crab meat into the bibimbap before eating. It was my first time trying a dish called crab meat bibimbap, and I had a solid meal with plenty of crab meat and seaweed.

Haebim is located near Mokpo Peace Square. The sign is large, so it is easy to spot. 📍 Hours 11:00–20:30 Last order: 20:00 Break time: 15:00–16:30 Closed every Wednesday 📍 Parking You can use the nearby parking shown in the review.

It is very close to Haebim, and because it is a public parking lot, the price felt reasonable. It also has a clear view of the sea, so it is nice for a short walk after eating.

The side dishes came out nicely. I especially liked that the tofu was served warm. Since these were side dishes to eat with bibimbap, this amount felt more than enough. The bracken and spinach were tasty too.

Crab meat seaweed bibimbap Cockle jeon

We ordered the most famous item, the crab meat seaweed bibimbap, and added cockle jeon as well.

By chance, we went in right at 11:00 when the restaurant opened. Inside, there was a spacious floor-seating area and many group seats. It seemed set up for families and group travelers visiting together. In fact, most of the customers I saw during the meal were group guests.

First, a large bowl comes out with only sesame oil inside. They said the soup was gim soup, and it was savory and tasty. The staff explained that you add rice, seaweed, and crab meat to the bowl, then mix everything together.

This was the portion for three people. They adjust the amount according to the number of people and place it in one bowl. There was enough to mix and eat comfortably. Even when I added a lot, it did not taste salty.

How should I describe the flavor? It tasted healthy. From the appearance, I expected something strong and spicy, but it was not spicy at all. It had a mild taste. The seaweed gave it a good texture, and the generous sesame oil made it nutty. For me, the taste was just so-so. I think older diners may like it, but I am not sure about younger people who prefer stronger, more stimulating flavors.

The cockle jeon tasted about as expected. It was cooked thin and large, so it was good for several people to share.

Waiting line at Haebim in Mokpo before noon

When I paid and left, it was not even quite 12:00 yet, but there was already a waiting line, so I took a photo. Maybe because it was introduced on Jigu Mabul, there were quite a lot of customers. If you visit Mokpo, I think it is worth trying at least once. It is a good place for a filling lunch, so if you are nearby, consider stopping by.
