Busan Gaya Milmyeon in Anyang: Weekend Wait and Parking Tips

Hello! Today I’m sharing a review of Busan Gaya Milmyeon, the place I go to when I’m craving milmyeon in Anyang. It has been around since I was very young, so every visit feels nostalgic. I went at lunchtime on a public holiday and had a short wait, so I’ll include a few practical tips for visiting.

The restaurant is right in front of Anyang Art Center and also close to Myeonghak Station—around a 5-minute walk from the station, according to the reviewer, since you basically cross the road and arrive. Hours 11:00–20:00 Break time: 14:40–16:00 Last order: 19:30 Parking Parking is available at the Anyang Art Center parking lot in front of the restaurant. The first 30 minutes cost 700 won, then 300 won per additional 10 minutes. That was enough time for a meal, and when I visit by car I usually park briefly at the Anyang Art Center lot.

At lunch and dinner peak times, assume there will be a wait. If you want to avoid waiting, visit before or after the peak. Tip: as soon as you arrive, put your name on the Catch Table waitlist. The line moved faster than the estimated time, maybe because noodles make for quick table turnover. A good plan is for one person to get out first and register on Catch Table while the other parks.

This time my mom went ahead and waited, but I arrived a little late and our turn had already come. However, they would not let us enter unless the whole party was there. Make sure everyone waits nearby so you can go in together. We got pushed to the back of the line, but it still moved fairly quickly, so we were able to eat without being too late.

There are more seats inside than you might expect. Don’t panic if the wait looks long, because tables turn over steadily. The food itself took a little time to come out.

Extra-large mul milmyeon Bibim milmyeon x 2 Wang mandu

The milmyeon portions here feel a bit small. If you are a big eater, the extra-large size is probably the safer choice. We also ordered mandu to match the number of people.

The bowl at the top is the extra-large mul milmyeon. It felt like it had about two-thirds more noodles than the regular size. If you usually eat a lot, that size may feel just right, especially if you are not adding mandu or another side. The regular portion is on the smaller side.

Bibim milmyeon comes with a slushy, icy broth on the side. As soon as the noodles arrived, the nutty sesame oil aroma came up strongly. The umami was great, and there was also a light herbal note—the exact milmyeon flavor I like. The noodles, egg, jidan egg garnish, seasoning sauce, and cucumber all worked well together. It was so good I felt like I didn’t need to go all the way to Gyeongsang-do for milmyeon.

The wang mandu did not seem handmade to me, but they were fine as a side to have one each. They came out hot and steamed, which made them tasty.

I added a little more broth to the bibim milmyeon and mixed it in. To me, the mul milmyeon had more of that herbal flavor, while the bibim milmyeon felt somewhat similar to bibim naengmyeon. In any case, both were delicious.
