Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong Branch 1: Spicy Octopus Review
A personal review of Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong Branch 1, a spacious spot in AK Plaza Gwangmyeong for teppan jjukkumi, pork belly, and complimentary steamed egg.

Hi! I was out shopping in Gwangmyeong with my mom and we were deciding what to have for lunch. She said she had been craving jjukkumi (webfoot octopus), so I looked it up right away and booked Jeongipum Jjukkumi. I had visited before and had to wait in line, but when I came back this time, I found that the restaurant had expanded! It is great to see a popular place make more room so that more people can enjoy a good meal.

Jeongipum Jjukkumi is now more spacious. It is on the first floor of AK Plaza Gwangmyeong, near the escalator going up. It is also directly visible from the way down to the underground parking area, so it should be easy to find. 📍 Parking You can park in the AK Plaza basement. The reviewer appears to have received about two hours of parking, and says it may be possible to settle it together with receipts from other AK purchases. Consider shopping and dining together. 📍 Hours - 11:30–22:00 - Break time: 16:00–17:00 - Last order: 15:00 and 21:00

The restaurant is larger than before, with sofa seating by the windows and table seating farther inside. Every table was spacious, so even two people can dine comfortably.

When you visit with a reservation, they prepare a tablet display with your name. If you write down your menu choices and spice level when booking, they can set everything up in advance for your arrival time. If you do not like waiting, reserving ahead and eating as soon as you arrive is a good option.
Teppan jjukkumi with plenty of extra toppings for two Drink
There were three spice levels available. I chose the medium level, and even my mom, who is not very good with spicy food, enjoyed it. I recommend the medium level!

These were the basic side dishes and accompaniments set out first: cabbage dressed with black sesame and sesame sauce, cold seaweed soup, roasted seaweed, bean sprouts, pickled radish, perilla leaves, mayonnaise, and flying fish roe. Everything except the flying fish roe can be refilled; the roe is available as an extra order.

This is how the table is set up at the beginning. A staff member turns on the heat and comes by to check how everything is cooking, so you can simply wait without worrying too much.
It sizzles nicely as it cooks! Turn the samgyeopsal (pork belly) over once in a while. After some time, a staff member lets you know how many more minutes to wait before eating.

My favorite combination was perilla leaf, roasted seaweed, pork belly, jjukkumi, minari (water celery), mayonnaise, and flying fish roe. It was heavenly! Once you make a wrap like this, it is so easy to keep eating. The sauce had a clean taste and paired especially well with the perilla leaves, making the wraps even tastier than eating the jjukkumi on its own. I also loved the aroma of the minari. They gave a very generous amount, and it stayed fragrant even after cooking down.

They also serve steamed egg as a complimentary item! The fluffy steamed egg comes in a ttukbaegi earthenware bowl, and it is an excellent match for the jjukkumi. It is mild rather than salty, so a bite of jjukkumi followed by a bite of steamed egg works perfectly.

Top the steamed egg with jjukkumi for a bite. The combination is chewy and soft, and it keeps you coming back for more.

In the end, we scraped the plate clean. I wanted bokkeumbap (fried rice) too, but the portion was so large that we could not manage it. There is definitely enough food for two people. If you want fried rice as well, it may be best to leave a little of the jjukkumi and have rice stir-fried with it. The jjukkumi seasoning here is so good. If you are looking for a great jjukkumi restaurant in Gwangmyeong, I highly recommend Jeongipum Jjukkumi. The owner and staff were also extremely kind, and we left in a great mood.
