The Holic Board Cafe Ansan Jungang Station Review
A review of The Holic Board Cafe Ansan Jungang Station branch, including reservations, waiting, unlimited pricing, student discounts, around 400 games, private rooms, tablet ordering, drinks, fries, and Rummikub.
Hello, this is Ijjingne. Today I met up in Ansan with classmates and juniors for the first time in a while. We planned to play briefly at a board game room and then go for drinks, so I reserved The Holic Board Game, the well-known Ansan board cafe in Jungang-dong, and visited.

We planned to go on a Friday afternoon, so I made a reservation in advance just in case. It was a good thing we did. When we went in, the place was packed with people of many ages, from students to adults, and more than four or five teams were waiting. Maybe the unlimited plan makes it even more popular. There is a reason popular places are popular. If you plan to visit during Friday, Saturday, or Sunday peak times, I recommend making a reservation.

The Holic Board Cafe's special point is the unlimited plan. If you order one drink per person and plan to play games for more than an hour, I recommend the unlimited plan. It is 2,700 won per hour, but unlimited use is 5,000 won. In that case, unlimited is the obvious choice. Once you get into board games, you lose track of time, so it is nice to use the unlimited plan comfortably. Youth can get a discounted youth rate by verifying with a school uniform or student ID, so students should bring their student ID.

Before going in, we chose what game to play. There were so many games, about 400 of them. I saw a few games I knew and many I had never seen before. It is fine even if you do not know the games, because everything is shown on the tablet inside. We first picked Rummikub, which all of us knew, and entered the room they guided us to.

There were really many rooms inside. They said it is close to 100 pyeong, and if all these rooms are full with a wait, that is honestly impressive. Even so, it was well managed and kept clean. There were many room types, from two-person rooms to group rooms for up to ten people. They guided us to a room that fit our group of four.

Since everyone was hot and thirsty, we each picked a drink. There were many kinds, including coffee, beverages, smoothies, tea, and ade, with hot and iced options.

Americano Yuja apple tea Grapefruit ade Large fries with cheese seasoning
We also ordered fries because they are easy to snack on while playing.

Once inside, the tablet lets you order from the menu, read game instructions, search for games, check usage guidance, and see recommended games by party size. It is divided by number of players and then by difficulty, so finding and choosing a new game was convenient.

The first game we brought in was Rummikub. I had only played it on my phone before, but it was more fun to lay out the tiles and play in person. This must be why people come to board game cafes.

While we were deep into Rummikub, a notification appeared on the tablet saying the food was ready. You just go to the counter and pick it up. We sprinkled the cheese seasoning generously and ate. The drinks were large and sweet, which made them good to have while playing games. The fries here were seriously good too. The fries disappeared right after they came out, and then we started playing again.

We played other games hard too, made small bets with friends, and had a fun time. Maybe board game cafes are even more fun when you visit after a long break. Next time I go to a board game cafe, I want to come back to The Holic Board Cafe with the unlimited plan.
