Songhwa Yusu Near Sinnonhyeon: Hanwoo Omakase Review
A Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon review of Songhwa Yusu, a two-plus No.9 Hanwoo omakase restaurant with parking, private rooms, grilled cuts, yukhoe, cold noodles, and omija tea.
Hi, this is Izzingne. I went to Seoul for the first time in a while. Gangnam was really crowded on a weekday evening. I visited Songhwa Yusu, a Hanwoo omakase restaurant located close to Sinnonhyeon Station.

It is easy to access, within a five-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 1 or 2. There is also dedicated parking on the first floor, so parking is convenient. The paid parking amount was 2,000 KRW. Business hours are 11:30 to 22:00, break time is 15:00 to 17:00, and last order is 21:00.

For omakase, you choose between Songhwa and Yusu, and we chose Songhwa. After the meal, if you need more beef, additional a la carte orders are also possible.

Songhwa Yusu says it insists on only two-plus No.9 Hanwoo, so I was already excited before the meal. The spoons and chopsticks were individually wrapped, which felt hygienic and nice.

There is a pretty space on the first floor with a very upscale feel. The first and second floors have table seating, while the third floor has rooms. In the rooms, families or company dinners can eat privately, so I recommend reserving in advance before visiting.

They started by setting out the side dishes. The sides were chosen to go well with beef, so it was nice to pair them in different ways. The young radish salad was especially tasty, with a refreshing and unusual sauce.

After the side dishes, they quickly brought yuk sashimi and yukhoe. I dipped the sashimi in chojang sauce, but even plain it tasted fresh and savory.

The yukhoe was unusual because cooked egg yolk was sprinkled on top, with pear underneath. They said they cook the yolk and grind it finely instead of using raw yolk, so it felt a little more reassuring to eat. The cooked yolk also paired better with the yukhoe than I expected.

While we were eating the sashimi and yukhoe, today's Hanwoo was prepared. Galbisal, upjinsal, deungsim deotsal, kkotdeungsim, and salchisal came out in a variety of cuts, as expected from omakase.

The first cuts they grilled were salchisal and kkotdeungsim. The color of the Hanwoo looked amazing.

When grilling, the staff asked whether the doneness was okay, grilled each piece neatly, and placed it on each person's plate. They matched our eating pace and came back to grill again when only one or two pieces were left. The staff member was so kind.

This was the upjinsal they grilled second. For me, the beef got tastier as we moved further through the order.

My favorite was deungsim deotsal. It seemed like the fattiest cut, and maybe I like rich flavors. The juices burst in my mouth, and it was so good. Beef really tastes best as Hanwoo.

The Hanwoo was so good that avoiding alcohol was impossible. Cheongha paired well with Hanwoo, so we each had one bottle and then moved on to the meal dishes.

We had doenjang sulbap and mul naengmyeon. The doenjang sulbap had rice inside and felt more like a stew than a soup. The soybean paste flavor was rich, it had plenty of ingredients, and there was more Hanwoo inside.

The cold noodles were very mild, but they were good after adding the mustard and kelp vinegar served alongside. They even cut the noodles for us, which added to the feeling of being well cared for.

The meal finished with omija tea. It tasted completely different from other omija teas I have tried. It was refreshing, with a nutty note too, and it really felt like there were five flavors. If you are looking for a Hanwoo restaurant or Hanwoo omakase in Sinnonhyeon, I highly recommend this place. I ate very well.
