Siseon Beomgye Izakaya Food and Atmosphere Review

JUNG08/21/2024Anyang

A Beomgye Station izakaya review of Siseon, covering its spacious mood, semi-private seating, smoking room, late-night soju and beer event, beef tartare and sashimi, boneless spicy chicken feet, and drink options.

Hello, this is Izzingne. Siseon Izakaya is really popular these days. Its Beomgye location also seemed extremely popular, and I remembered it because I had been there a few times before. Every time I visited, there were so many people.

It is in one of the main bar buildings in Beomgye, the kind most people around here know. It is close to the station and easy to find. Go up to the second floor and it is on the left corner.

The post says that on Fridays and Saturdays from 00:00 to 03:00, visitors born from 2000 to 2005 can get soju and beer 1+1. Since I still qualify, I should choose Siseon when looking for a late-night bar in Beomgye.

The interior is very long and spacious. There are many comfortable sofa seats, and the bamboo is part of the decor but also works like a subtle divider.

There were also many seats that were not full rooms but felt about halfway separated from the outside. With the soft lighting, they seemed perfect for couples on a date. The source also notes a smoking room, which is not common around Beomgye and would be convenient for smokers.

There were too many side dishes and snacks to photograph everything, so I only took shots of the categories.

Korean beef tartare and raw beef sashimi, direct-fire boneless soup chicken feet, draft beer, and soju.

As an izakaya, Siseon had sashimi, nabe, grilled dishes, and many other izakaya-style options. It also had broadly appealing dishes like tteokbokki, pasta, and chicken feet. I was craving spicy food, so I ordered chicken feet together with a simple beef tartare and sashimi set.

Besides soju and beer, there were many drinks such as traditional Korean alcohol and sake. There were also highballs and vodka options, so it was easy to choose according to taste.

I naturally went with somaek. Draft beer mixed with soju is my favorite, and the draft beer came out very cold.

The beef sashimi and tartare arrived first. The color of the sashimi looked great, and it felt quite fresh.

It looked so good that I kept reaching for it. It came with black sesame sauce, dried seaweed, radish sprouts, and wasabi, and wrapping it in seaweed made it even better.

We wrapped everything neatly. We ran a little short on seaweed, but when we asked, they brought more. The tartare was delicious after breaking the egg yolk and mixing it well. The seasoning here was really good, and with the yolk and cheese mixed in, the flavor felt even richer.

While eating the beef sashimi, the chicken feet arrived. The boneless soup chicken feet had a smoky fire flavor, a shallow broth, and lots of bean sprouts. The surprising part was that it even had wide Chinese glass noodles. The chicken feet were chewy and delicious, and they were quite spicy, exactly my style. People who are sensitive to spice might find it a little difficult.

We finished the whole table well. Among Beomgye Station bars, it felt like one of the best. The sashimi also seemed reasonably priced, so next time I want to come back for sashimi. I recommend Siseon for anyone looking for a good-value spot with a nice atmosphere in Beomgye.
