Owolui Gondre Baegun Lake Gondre Rice and Cheonggukjang Review
A Korean table meal at Owolui Gondre near Baegun Lake in Uiwang, with gondre rice, rich cheonggukjang, siraegi braised codfish, easy front parking, and side dishes that felt neat and home-style.
Hello, this is Ijjingne. Today I visited Owolui Gondre, a gondre rice spot in front of Baegun Lake in Uiwang. It serves a full gondre rice table with hot cheonggukjang. I heard it had a neat home-cooked feel, so I went to try it.

It is on the road toward Baegun Lake. You can park right in front of the restaurant, and there was a parking attendant, so parking was convenient. Business hours are 11:00 to 21:00. Last order is 20:20, so keep that in mind when planning a visit.

The menu is simple. You order Owol Bapsang according to the number of people, and extra menu items are optional.
Owol Bapsang for three Siraegi braised codfish
We debated between jukumi stir-fry and braised codfish. Since codfish seemed like the better match for gondre rice, we added the siraegi braised codfish.

The Owol Bapsang came out first. It was full of side dishes I like. Honestly, this much would already be enough to finish a bowl of rice. It made sense to call this a gondre rice place.

I liked that there was plenty of gondre in the rice. I mixed it well with the seasoning sauce. The nutty gondre aroma lasted until the end. If you say the rice portion is not enough, the staff will bring a little more.
People say they come to Owolui Gondre for this cheonggukjang, and I understood why. The cheonggukjang was deep, and the bean texture was still alive, so it got better as I chewed. It had plenty of ingredients, the seasoning was just right, and it was good enough to finish a bowl of rice with only the stew.

A little after the Owol Bapsang was set, the siraegi braised codfish came out. It was 14,000 won, but the portion was surprisingly generous. There was enough for three people to eat and still have some left. The sauce was pleasantly spicy, and I liked that it came with plenty of siraegi.

This is why we ordered the codfish. Seaweed, gondre rice, codfish, and siraegi made the best wrap combination. My parents also had drinks with the meal because codfish made it hard not to.

Any side dishes that ran low could be refilled at the self-service bar. They put out small amounts at a time and refilled them quickly when they ran out, which made the place feel well managed.

The soy-marinated shrimp, yeolmu kimchi, and soy-marinated crab from the Owol Bapsang are also sold for takeout. The shrimp were large and plump, and the seasoning had soaked in without being too salty, so the texture was nice and chewy. I wondered why the yeolmu kimchi tasted so good, then realized it had barley in it. That one is something you have to taste yourself. The yeolmu kimchi was the real deal. After the meal, many people bought a container to take home, and I regretted not buying one too.

Owolui Gondre is already known as a Baegun Lake restaurant, and I would recommend it for Korean food in Uiwang. It is the kind of place that would get you compliments if you brought your parents.
