Okgye Samgyetang Hogye-dong Anyang Review
A Hogye-dong samgyetang review in Anyang covering Okgye Samgyetang, its 11:00-21:00 hours, building parking, perilla samgyetang, side dishes, and hearty chicken soup.
Hi, this is Ijjingne. Summer already feels like it is coming, and it is so hot. That means there is something we should do before summer arrives: get a nourishing meal in advance. I was low on energy and tired for days, so I went to check out a samgyetang spot in Hogye-dong.

I really love perilla, so when I heard they had perilla samgyetang, I went right away.
Okgye Samgyetang is on the first floor of the Rich Valley Apartment building. The hours are 11:00 to 21:00. Parking is also easy in the parking lot above the building. There are designated Okgye Samgyetang parking spaces. It is close to Hogye Intersection, so access is convenient, and the source says it is a 21-year tradition restaurant.

As expected from a chicken dish specialist, they had more than samgyetang, including dakbokkeumtang, chicken gizzard, and chicken porridge. If you visit with children, chicken gomtang or chicken porridge also seemed like good choices.
Samgyetang Perilla soup
Since we came for a nourishing meal, we ordered samgyetang right away. I love perilla, so I chose the perilla samgyetang.

They also sold house-made ginseng liquor. I visited during the day, so I skipped alcohol. There was also a funny chicken-cooking note that made me laugh as I read from number one.

After ordering, they set out the side dishes. If you need more, you can bring them from the self-service bar. Everything was neatly covered. I like Cheongyang chili peppers, so when I asked, they also brought some extra for me.

There was a plastic bag hanging at each table, and I wondered if it was for bones, but they gave us a separate bone bowl. It seemed to just be a small trash bag at each table.

The samgyetang came out in less than ten minutes after ordering. The steam made the photo a little hazy, but it looked so good bubbling away. Rather than feeling like a thin soup, it was thick and rich, which I liked even more.
It really felt like a proper nourishing meal. There was plenty of glutinous rice inside the chicken, along with ingredients like ginseng, jujube, and ginkgo. It felt like a lot of care had gone into it.

I pulled out a chicken leg to let it cool because it was hot. They seemed to use fairly large chickens. With a whole chicken inside, I ate until I was completely full.

The one on the left is samgyetang. The one on the right is perilla samgyetang. The perilla version has a richer-looking broth.

The glutinous rice inside was really good. Dipping it lightly in the broth and adding kimchi was perfect. The kimchi here was good too, so I went back for more a couple of times.

I finished the whole bowl while sweating and almost felt like I would burst. Samgyetang really tastes best when you eat it while sweating. Since it is close to home, I want to bring my parents next time. If you live in Hogye-dong, I hope you try it at least once. #HogyeDongSamgyetang #AnyangSamgyetangRestaurant #HogyeDongRestaurant #HogyeDongPerillaSamgyetang #AnyangBaeksuk #AnyangBaeksukRestaurant #NourishingMealRecommendation #AnyangSamgyetang
