Mimi Bakery Daejeon Weekend Review: Dubai Desserts Sold Out Early
A weekend visit to Mimi Bakery in Daejeon for Dubai-style desserts. The Dubai chewy cookies were already gone, but the Dubai pistachio crookie, coffee, and bear cookie made the stop worthwhile.
Hello! Today is the long-awaited Mimi Bakery review. I visited Mimi Bakery, or Mimi Jegwajeom, in Galsan-dong, Daejeon. It is known for Dubai-style desserts, so I made it a must-stop on my Daejeon trip. But because I went in the afternoon, the Dubai items were already pretty much gone. Luckily, one Dubai crookie was still left, so I got to try it.

The shop is tucked into an alley in Galsan-dong, Daejeon. It is also close to Dunsan-dong, so if your itinerary includes Dunsan-dong, it is a good place to stop by. Business hours are 11:00 to 16:00, with last order at 15:30. For a cafe, it closes quite early, and even those hours can be cut short if all desserts sell out that day.

I visited at 1 p.m. on a Saturday. I originally came hoping for a Dubai chewy cookie, but apparently it is hard to get unless you come right when they open. In front of the shop, there was a Tableling tablet and a display showing which desserts were sold out. Among the Dubai items, only the crookie was left, so I decided to get the crookie.

Iced Americano, vanilla latte, Dubai pistachio crookie, and bear cookie.
Since I stopped by after a meal, I ordered coffee with the desserts and decided to eat inside.

For each dessert, the shop lists how to enjoy it and how to store it when packed to go. The ingredients and countries of origin were also written carefully, which made this dessert shop feel very trustworthy.

The Dubai chewy cookies sold out as soon as the shop opened, and only small amounts of the other desserts were left.

I arrived at 1 p.m. and stayed for about 30 minutes. By the time I left, most of the desserts had sold out. Weekends are seriously popular, so if there is a dessert you really want, I recommend doing an opening run.

There were maybe two or three tables inside. I needed a sugar recharge, and it was nice that I could sit down and eat right away.

If you dine in, they serve the desserts on a cute plate like this. The bear cookie was so cute. And the moment I saw the crookie, I forgot all about the chewy cookie. That look — how could anyone resist?

Mimi Bakery also serves a fairly generous amount of coffee. The Americano had low acidity and a nutty taste. The vanilla latte was seriously good: smooth, rich, and very sweet. I came for the desserts, but they do coffee well too.

The crookie was the item I was most excited about. The croissant was filled generously, with a thick cookie layer and chocolate on the outside. The inside had a big crunchy bite, and the top had an extra crisp texture. It was honestly amazing. It was the heaviest crookie I have tried, and I fully accept Mimi Bakery as a great Dubai dessert spot.

The bear cookie was tasty too. The outside was coated in chocolate, and inside it seemed like a butter cookie. It was sweet and good, and because these are desserts, they paired really well with the Americano. Now that I know this place is good for Dubai-style desserts, if I go back to Daejeon, I want to stop by again and try the chewy cookie.

What an intense, delicious taste. Even if the Dubai dessert you wanted is sold out, if anything is still available, definitely try it. The one I tried had plenty of kadaif and a moderate pistachio flavor, so among the Dubai-style desserts I have had, Mimi Bakery is my number one.

On weekends, the wait can be long, and you never know when items will sell out early and the shop will close, so I recommend visiting on a weekday. If you are traveling or only have time on the weekend, go right at opening. The Dubai chewy cookie has a per-person quantity limit, so if you want to buy a lot, bring a friend. Also, the coffee is good, so it is worth enjoying with your dessert. #DaejeonBakeryTour #DaejeonSaltBreadSpot #DaejeonDubaiChocolate #DunsanDongCafe #DaejeonBakeryRecommendation #DaejeonBakery #DaejeonCafe #DaejeonDubaiChewyCookie #DunsanDongDubaiChewyCookie #DaejeonDubaiCrookie #DunsanDongCrookie #DunsanDongDessert #GalmaDongDessert #DaejeonDessertCafe
