Menbuku Jemyeonso Udon in Anyang Dongpyeon Village
A visit to Menbuku Jemyeonso, a Japanese udon spot near Dongpyeon Village Cafe Street and Indeogwon Station Exit 8, with bukkake udon, spicy seafood udon and tonkatsu.
Hello! Today I visited a Japanese-style udon specialty restaurant in Dongpyeon Village, Indeogwon, Anyang. It had been on my list for a while, so I was really looking forward to it. I had heard there can be a wait on weekends or at lunchtime, so I aimed for a rainy weekday afternoon.

The restaurant is near Dongpyeon Village Cafe Street in Anyang and close to Indeogwon Station Exit 8, about a 7-minute walk. Hours are 11:30–20:00, with last order at 14:50 / 19:50 and break time from 15:00–17:00. Parking is available for about 4 cars behind the building, and you can also use a nearby public parking lot. Around Dongpyeon Village restaurants, the spaces in front of shops are usually full, so I used a nearby parking lot too.

There is a large banner on the building, so it is easy to find. The menu board in front shows photos and prices clearly, which seems useful for choosing what to order while waiting or for deciding to walk in.

Luckily, there was no wait when I visited. I heard lunch and weekends often have a line, so if you want to try it, dinner time may be a better option.

When we entered, a staff member assigned our seats. Places that often have waits tend to manage seating this way. The tables were roomy, so it was comfortable to eat. We sat in the middle, side-by-side like at a counter, and there were lots of decorative items right in front of us, which made it fun to look around. Baby chairs were also available, so it seemed convenient for dining with children.

Bukkake udon. Spicy seafood udon. Tonkatsu.
A lot of people seemed to order set meals, but I wanted to try a variety. Udon with tonkatsu is hard to resist, so I ordered three à la carte dishes. The menu noted that the seafood udon may take a little time to prepare, but it came out faster than expected.

They were also running a review event. If you write a Naver receipt review and save the place, you can receive one side menu item or one highball.

The dishes we ordered came out quickly. Even as an à la carte order, the tonkatsu came with soup, rice and salad. The udon dishes each came with one piece of inari sushi, making the meal feel more filling.

The spicy seafood udon had a rich, tasty broth. It came with a lot of seafood, had a smoky wok-like flavor, and felt like a jjamppong-style udon. Maybe because the seafood was generous, the portion also felt large. If you are looking for something spicy and hearty, I highly recommend the seafood udon.

The tonkatsu was fried beautifully, crispy outside and moist inside. The size was about the size of a palm, a fairly standard portion, and I liked the crisp coating. Since it came with soup, rice and salad, it was more filling than I expected.

Tonkatsu sauce and salt are prepared at each table rather than served separately, so you can choose according to your taste. The sauce was good, but the salt here felt a bit special, and dipping the tonkatsu in salt was also quite tasty.

This was my first time trying bukkake udon. It had an interesting flavor: slightly refreshing from the lemon, with a soft, sweet and nutty taste. All the ingredients worked really well together. I especially liked the crispy tempura crumbs. Maybe because it was a new taste for me, I kept feeling sad that it was disappearing as I ate.

I thought noodles might not be very filling, so I ordered three dishes, but choosing one noodle dish per person and adding one à la carte tonkatsu would be just right for people with a good appetite. If you want to try Japanese-style authentic udon around Dongpyeon Village, I recommend Menbuku Jemyeonso. I will be going back for the bukkake udon. That refreshing udon flavor was unusual, but it keeps coming to mind.
