Icarus Beomgye LP Bar for Whisky and Cocktails
A Beomgye cocktail-bar review of Icarus, an LP bar in the Kodachaya building with whisky, cocktails, wine, Glenmorangie Signet by the glass, Orchard House, snacks, and friendly owner explanations.
Hello, this is Ijjingne. Today I visited Icarus, an Anyang cocktail bar. This place had a really wide variety of drinks, including whisky, cocktails, and wine.

It is in the Kodachaya building on the main Beomgye Rodeo street. You probably know the building. Go up to the second floor and turn toward the bar Siyeosa, and Icarus is tucked inside.
The atmosphere was incredible. I did not know such a hip place was here. The inside was cozy and decorated nicely with cute objects and bottles. The bar looked like it could seat about four groups, and there seemed to be about two table seats. If bar seats are uncomfortable, choose a table. We sat at the bar. The owner kept explaining the drinks, accepted song requests, and quickly refilled water and basic snacks, so the bar seats were actually comfortable for us.

Glenmorangie Signet. I had wanted to try Signet for so long. But even the lowest duty-free price was in the 300,000 KRW range, and I worried I might regret buying a bottle if it did not suit my taste. I wanted to try just one glass first, and then I found a place in Beomgye that served Signet. As soon as I saw it, I reserved and ran over.

Glenmorangie Signet (50,000) Compass Box Orchard House (20,000) - Ordered by the glass; bottles are also sold -
I chose the Signet I had in mind, and my friend chose Compass Box Orchard House, recommended by the owner. My friend asked for whisky that was sweet and not too bitter because it was a first whisky try. We had eaten a light dinner before visiting, so we simply ate the basic snacks of chocolate and pretzels.

Finally, I met the Signet in real life. I was so excited. The owner also said they would play a song I liked on LP and asked me to choose, so I picked Charlie Puth and took a photo with the Charlie Puth LP.

They served cute jelly, which I liked even more than Haribo, pretzels, and M&M's chocolate that is not in the photo. With whisky, I understood why people pair it with sweet snacks, cheese, and crackers. The match was great. The owner also lit a cinnamon stick and said smelling it while drinking would make the mood even better. The owner was truly kind, thoughtful, and did everything alone.

A short Signet review: as soon as the bottle was opened, the sweet aroma of chocolate rose strongly. It smelled like it would not be bitter at all and would taste sweet, and from that moment I thought it was amazing. At first, a deep coffee aroma came through, then the bitterness of whisky rose strongly. The bitterness stayed even while swallowing, but at the same time a sweet chocolate aroma came up clearly. At the end, I also sensed a slight citrus note. It was such a charming drink.
The owner explained how Signet is made, why it is famous, and why these aromas appear. It felt less like simply drinking and more like learning whisky culture, which I really enjoyed.

When I had drunk about half, the owner gave me an ice ball and suggested trying it chilled and diluted. It was really great.

You might think selfies would not come out well because the lighting is dark here. Absolutely not. Selfies came out really well. Why? I was surprised too.

Did it not come out well? My friend and I talked nonstop, took photos, and learned about alcohol from the owner. Even though it was our first time meeting him, he felt like a familiar uncle, and because he was so friendly, I felt good the whole time I was drinking.
The speakers were powerful, and the atmosphere changed with the music.

They also gave us barley tea to drink with the alcohol, and whenever we finished it, they kept refilling it. Maybe because I drank a lot of water, my stomach felt comfortable the next day too.
Cheers. I was so happy that my first Signet experience was this informative. I do not know if the owner will see this, but thank you so much. Thanks to this visit, I am thinking about buying a bottle, and I will definitely buy one if I get a duty-free chance.

The mood was good, and above all, the owner was excellent. I highly recommend Icarus, the Beomgye cocktail bar.
