Haemuljeom (해물점) Near Pyeongchon Station: Al & Goni Jjim
A self-paid review of Haemuljeom near Pyeongchon Station Exit 1, with spicy al & goni jjim, myeongran cheese jjapaghetti, fried rice, and a retro pocha interior.
Hi! Today I visited Haemuljeom, a pub near Pyeongchon Station. I walked in while passing by, and I liked it so much that I wanted to share it. I did not know what to expect before going in, but I was surprised because the interior was really pretty. It had a total grandmother's-house feeling.

The location is about 1 minute on foot from Pyeongchon Station Exit 1. After coming up from the station, enter Rodeo Street and it is right near the entrance. The sign stood out, so it was easy to find. Hours: 15:00–24:00. Saturday and Sunday: 15:00–23:00. Closed on the last Sunday of each month.

It had a strong pojangmacha-style vibe and an old-school, retro mood. The anju options looked varied, and the place gave off a real local favorite feeling.

Al & goni jjim + fried rice add-on Myeongran cheese jjapaghetti
I was curious about the Bada Hansang too, but I was not very hungry, so I ordered the simple and spicy al & goni jjim. I thought jjapaghetti would pair well with it, so I added one as a side. A welcome drink called ma juice came out with the meal. It had a ma, or yam, aroma and tasted a bit like yogurt or Yakult. It was sweet and tart, so it was good for waking up the appetite. The name, Don't drink alcohol on an empty stomach juice, was also very witty.

The interior is really the real deal, right? It felt like the main room of a grandmother's house. I also liked the silver table and the cushions. It is a small pocha, but there were surprisingly many photo spots here and there, so I took some photos too.

The al & goni jjim seemed to take about 10 minutes. Since it is a steamed dish, that much time was completely fine to wait. The jjapaghetti came out with it too, so I took a solid photo before eating.

The al & goni jjim had a thick sauce that was well absorbed, and it was full of al, goni, and bean sprouts, so it was hearty and delicious. Dipping it in wasabi soy sauce added more savory flavor. It was perfect as anju with drinks.

Maybe because the jjapaghetti was mixed with myeongran, it was saltier and really tasty. It matched the spicy al & goni jjim so well. If I go again, I think I would order this same combination.

After finishing the al & goni jjim, you can have fried rice made with the remaining sauce. Honestly, I ordered the al & goni jjim because I wanted to eat the fried rice. It was nutty and spicy, exactly my style. They also topped it with plenty of seaweed flakes, so it was great as a second round of anju.

Haemuljeom had lots of photo spots and the food was seriously good. There are not many seats inside, so I think there could be a wait if you come at peak time. Next time, I want to sit at one of the atmospheric floor seats with a red cushion. When it comes to pojangmacha, seafood pocha really is the best, and I was happy to find a place like this.
