Gampo Haeguk-gil and Jeonchon Yonggul Cave in Gyeongju
A Gyeongju Gampo travel stop covering Jeonchon Yonggul Cave, the short stair-and-flat walking route, clear sea views, strong waves, Haeguk-gil murals, and a Family by Choice filming spot.
Hi, this is Izzingne. During this Gyeongju trip, I visited Gampo. I do not remember it at all, so it felt like my first time, but when I asked my mom, she said we went often when I was young. I treated it like a first visit and went anyway. Let me show you the photo spots.

First, we parked near Gampo Port and visited Jeonchon Yonggul Cave. I had seen many people take the famous cave shot in Gampo, so I was really curious and came to see it.

The path to Yonggul Cave has stairs like this. You can think of it as a light walking course. At my pace, 15 minutes was enough, and my grandmother and father walked slowly and took about 20 minutes. The sea views looking down on the way were beautiful, and I could see people fishing here and there.

There were stairs, then flat sections, then stairs again. It was just right for walking while enjoying the scenery. The slope was not too steep and felt manageable.

When you arrive, a wide sea opens up in front of you. The water was very clear, clear enough to see the ground below. I visited when it was a bit cold, and the waves were very strong.

Originally, you would go farther inside to take photos, but the waves were too rough, so I could not enter. I sat near the front and took a photo instead. Even there, when waves came in, the water almost overflowed, so I timed it carefully, took the photo quickly, and came down.

Before going back up, I took one more photo. It is so clear and pretty. It was very cold that day, but in the photos it looks refreshing and nice.
On the way down, the scenery was so pretty that I took a video. It felt completely healing.

After finishing Jeonchon Yonggul Cave, we headed straight to nearby Gampo Haeguk-gil.

Maybe because I visited on a Sunday morning, there were almost no people looking around. I heard it takes about 10 minutes to see, so we parked briefly near Haeguk-gil and went up. There were many murals on the way, so it was fun to look around.

The place that was a noodle shop in Family by Choice is a cafe in real life. I almost went in thinking it was a small goods shop, but since it was a cafe, I did not enter.

The stairs were so pretty. I also sat in the middle and took a photo, but none of them came out well, so I left them out.
If you are planning a trip to Gyeongju, I really hope you visit Gampo at least once. You can see the sea, and if the waves are not too strong, you can get pretty photos. Make sure to see the Haeguk-gil stairs too. They are wider and prettier than I expected, and I think they would be even nicer in spring.
