Dungeunsang Sigoljip Anyang: Braised Cutlassfish Review
A personal review of Dungeunsang Sigoljip near Anyang Bakdal-dong and Gwangmyeong Station, known for braised and grilled cutlassfish, garden views, parking, generous side dishes, and free self-service coffee.
Hello! Today I visited Dungeunsang Sigoljip, a restaurant on the route from Anyang’s Bakdal-dong area toward Gwangmyeong Station. I had wanted to try it for a while because it is known for braised cutlassfish and grilled cutlassfish, and I finally made it there.

After parking, I took a look around the yard, and it was really pretty. While eating, I could also see the garden through the window, which made the meal feel calm and peaceful.
The location is at the entrance to Ho Hyeon Village, on the way from Anyang Bakdal-dong to Gwangmyeong Station. It is across from Bakdal 119 Safety Center. It is a place that is convenient to visit by car, and the parking lot is spacious. Business hours: 11:30-20:30 Last order: 20:00 The reviewer noted that it seemed to be open year-round.

After parking, you walk around the building toward the front, and the entrance appears. I visited in the early afternoon and had dinner there. Maybe because of the lighting, the atmosphere at night felt especially nice.

Once inside, the first impression was exactly like an old grandmother’s house: quiet, relaxed, and comfortable. The hall was interesting because it was divided into rooms, and we were guided to the coolest room near the entrance.

Braised cutlassfish for two.
I debated between grilled cutlassfish and braised cutlassfish, but since I had not had braised fish in a while, I chose the braised cutlassfish. When ordering the grilled menu, it is also possible to add more grilled fish, which sounds good for anyone who feels the portion might be small.

Just like the restaurant’s name suggests, the side dishes are served on a round table. All the tables inside were round tables too. There were 12 kinds of side dishes, which felt more than enough. Many were home-style banchan that reminded me of a meal made by a grandmother. All side dishes, rice, and soup can be refilled. Each seat has a small tray; you place the side-dish bowls you want refilled on the tray and bring them forward, and the owner adds more. But for us, the portions were generous enough that we did not need any refills.

The braised cutlassfish looked amazing. It came out bubbling, with the seasoning well absorbed into the fish. The look and the smell were both impressive. I had arrived very hungry, so it made my mouth water even more.

They light a candle under the pot so the dish stays warm until the end of the meal. It was still warm by the time we finished, and I really liked that detail.

I moved the cutlassfish and the fully cooked radish onto the small plate they provided, then carefully separated the fish meat and ate. The seasoning had soaked in well, and the fish was soft, so it kept going down easily. It definitely earned the Korean “rice thief” label.
With this combination, how could anyone resist two bowls of rice? It was a very satisfying dinner table. The side dishes were also the kind that most people would probably enjoy, so I ate everything happily.

There were many red-seasoned side dishes, but they were not overly salty or strong. The seasoning was just right. And mixed-grain rice with beef radish soup is always a great pairing.

As the meal was coming to an end, they brought a bowl of sungnyung. The nutty aroma of the scorched rice was real. I was already very full, but I kept reaching for it anyway. We had been the first dinner guests, but by the time we left, the room we were in was full and even the room next door had guests. It made me think this place is quite popular.

Another generous point: the self-service cafe is free to use. Both iced and hot options are available, and the instructions are written clearly, so it looked easy enough for older guests to use without difficulty.

For iced coffee, you just fill a cup with ice and place it in the machine. There are tables outside too, so many people got coffee and enjoyed it outdoors before leaving. The scenery was pretty, and at night the lighting looked really nice.

I agree that this is a good restaurant for Bakdal-dong and Ho Hyeon-dong. Since the location is right between Anyang and Gwangmyeong, it seems convenient to visit from either side. It had been a while since I enjoyed such a green view, and it felt healing.
