A personal review of Daro Galbi by Pyeongchon Station Exit 2, featuring handmade pork galbi, generous side dishes, cold naengmyeon, doenjang jjigae, and draft beer.

Hello! Today I visited Daro Galbi near Pyeongchon Station. It had been a long time since I last ate pork galbi, and maybe because this was handmade pork galbi, it was tender, sweet, and really delicious. The side dishes were also served so well that I would definitely recommend this place.

The location is about a 1-minute walk from Exit 2 of Pyeongchon Station. It is right in front of the station, so it felt very close. Opening hours: 16:00–22:00 Last order: 21:30 On Saturday and Sunday, it opens at 11:30. I visited on a weekday afternoon, and except for the one spot where we sat, it was already full. It seemed really popular.

Handmade pork galbi, 3 servings After-meal mul-naengmyeon Doenjang jjigae and rice Draft beer and soju

We first ordered two servings of galbi, then added one more because it was so good. For the naengmyeon, there were regular and after-meal options, so we chose the lighter after-meal version. We also ordered jjigae and drinks. Draft beer is not always easy to find at Korean meat restaurants, so I was really happy they had it here.

They brought out the charcoal and set up the side dishes. There were salad, muk, jangajji-style pickles, and more. I liked that only tasty side dishes were served neatly.

Seasoned green onion, seasoned perilla leaves, and pickled onions were served individually for each person, which felt very thoughtful. The garlic came sliced, and the overall plating was clean, so the table setting made me feel good even before the meal started.

This is what two servings of galbi looked like. There were rib bones hidden inside too. The meat was nicely thick, the marinade had soaked in well, and it had a sweet, delicious aroma.

Above the grill, there was a vent that pulled the smoke away right away. After the meat was cooked, they let us place it on a plate above the vent so we could eat it slowly.

Doenjang jjigae and naengmyeon are must-orders at a meat restaurant. The jjigae was savory and spicy in a good way. The naengmyeon had icy broth, and the noodles were thin and springy. The mul-naengmyeon was so tasty that it made me curious about the bibim-naengmyeon too.

We grilled the galbi until it was golden, and because the bone pieces were thicker, we left them near the edge to cook longer. This is not a restaurant where staff grill everything for you, but the owner and staff came by very often, coached us so the meat would not burn, and adjusted the heat. Thanks to that, we could enjoy the meat without burning it.

I could not skip the draft beer. For the first sip, I drank it down with the foam, then mixed it with soju for somaek. If you come to Daro Galbi, I recommend having a drink with the draft beer. The beer was really cold and delicious. Draft beer at a meat restaurant is the best.

One bite with naengmyeon and meat, then another bite with seasoned perilla leaves and meat. I felt like I just kept eating without stopping. The seasoned perilla leaves were so good that we even got a refill.

Then we added one more serving and grilled it properly. After eating, I realized that going up to three servings was a bit much for us. The portions did not feel small, so it may be good to order moderately and enjoy side dishes too. Still, we finished everything, and I felt incredibly full.

After eating, I went to the restroom and noticed another thoughtful touch. I would recommend this as a Pyeongchon Station dinner spot for gatherings. After eating meat, you can feel a little uncomfortable, but there was mouthwash, which made it nice to finish the meal feeling fresh.

When paying, I also saw toothpicks, dental floss, and refreshing candy. Throughout the meal, I kept feeling that this was a place with thoughtful details. With handmade pork galbi and delicious side dishes, it is somewhere I would like to visit again. Pork galbi grilled over charcoal with draft beer was truly delicious.
