A personal review of Cheongnyeon Dabang Pyeongchon Station branch, located near Pyeongchon Station Exit 3. The visit focused on the new Garlic Pong Dak tteokbokki, butter garlic fries, and useful details like hours, Sunday closure, and in-store events.

Hi! Today I visited Cheongnyeon Dabang, my favorite tteokbokki place. I heard Cheongnyeon Dabang had released a new menu item, so I rushed over right away to try it.

The location is at the Pyeongchon Station intersection. The fastest way is to come out of Pyeongchon Station Exit 3. If you go around to the back of Geumgang Smart Building, you can find it quickly. Business hours: 11:00–22:00 Closed every Sunday.

Cheongnyeon Dabang Pyeongchon Station in-store waiting game review photo

Before I even entered the shop, the games caught my eye. It looked like the owner had prepared simple board games so guests could play while waiting for their tteokbokki. They would be fun with drinks too, and there was even a lie detector game. I picked one up on my way in and played while waiting for the food, so the time passed quickly.

Cheongnyeon Dabang Pyeongchon Station branch also had several events and discounts. - Open-run visit: if you reserve for 11:00 and visit, you get complimentary chalsundae. - Birthday celebration coupon: complimentary butter garlic fries. - Chicken + two draft beers discount event: 20,000 won.

Cheongnyeon Dabang menu review photo featuring the new Garlic Pong Dak item

When I looked at the menu, I remembered that beef brisket tteokbokki used to feel like the main dish here, but now there are so many new items. There were even donkatsu pork cutlet options that seemed almost like what you would see at a pork cutlet specialty restaurant. The menu said they use handmade fresh pork loin, so it sounded even better. I was most curious about the newest item, Garlic Pong Dak, so I ordered it. It has chicken thigh meat and fried whole garlic in the tteokbokki. Honestly, that combination already sounds impossible to dislike.

What I ordered: - Garlic Pong Dak tteokbokki, à la carte - Butter garlic fries - Two fried dumplings - Chamisul

If you order the set menu, it comes as tteokbokki + butter garlic fries + ade. But I came today for tteokbokki with soju, so I skipped the set and ordered the à la carte tteokbokki instead.

Food served at Cheongnyeon Dabang Pyeongchon Station branch review

It was a weekday evening, but the place was full. I thought the food might take a while to come out, but it arrived faster than expected, which was great. You could really see that the owner was moving quickly and efficiently.

The tteokbokki came out first. There was a generous amount of chicken thigh meat, and it looked just like the menu photo, which made it look even more delicious. There was a nest of green onion strips with plenty of whole garlic, and when I soaked everything in the broth and ate it together with the tteokbokki, it was so good.

Butter garlic fries paired with Cheongnyeon Dabang tteokbokki

No matter what tteokbokki you order at Cheongnyeon Dabang, butter garlic fries are something you really should eat with it. As expected, the sauce was sweet and savory, and it paired well with the tteokbokki. To be honest, I go to Cheongnyeon Dabang for these fries.

Chicken thigh meat, green onion strips, garlic, and tteokbokki at Cheongnyeon Dabang

Put green onion strips and whole garlic on the chicken thigh meat, then eat it with the chewy tteokbokki, and it is pure happiness. Because it is 100% chicken thigh meat, it was tender and soft in the mouth. The pairing with garlic was excellent too.

Long signature rice cakes at Cheongnyeon Dabang Pyeongchon Station branch

Cheongnyeon Dabang is known for its long rice cakes. If you want to eat them comfortably, you can cut them; if you want to enjoy them long, you can eat them as they are. Since I was eating slowly with drinks, I cut mine into a manageable size.

How can you resist this look? For reference, there are basic and spicy flavor options. Even the basic flavor was moderately spicy. I usually handle spicy food well, but this still felt quite spicy. The portion was just right for two people when eaten together with the fries. I should have finished with fried rice, but right when I ordered, they had just run out of rice. They said it would take about 20 minutes to cook a new batch, so I skipped the fried rice. But honestly, if I had eaten fried rice too, I think I would have been completely stuffed.
