Burnt Seoul Jongno Cafe for Pretzels and Orange Coffee

JUNG10/04/2024Korea

A local review of Burnt Seoul, a large Jongno cafe near Cheonggyecheon with seating on the upper floors, pretzels, honey bread, mini choux, cute goods, and a signature orange coffee.

I visited Burnt Seoul, a cafe in Jongno. I did not realize how big it was until I got there. The first floor is only for ordering, and seating is available on the second and third floors, so it really feels like a large cafe.

It is right in front of Cheonggyecheon in Jongno. Because the whole building is the cafe, it was easy to spot. The view of Cheonggyecheon from the window was especially pretty.

Order list: signature orange coffee, Americano, honey bread, chocolate pretzel, and maybe a mini choux.

I chose three breads. The orange coffee is the signature drink, and the source says it is orange juice with an espresso shot, so I ordered it out of curiosity.

The pretzels were kept inside a case, which felt hygienic. There were so many good-looking options that it took a while to choose, but I went with the rich chocolate pretzel.

I also picked up the honey bread that seemed like a representative menu item, plus a cute mini choux. Even though I came right after a meal, the desserts looked so good that I ended up choosing three.

There were cute goods too, including hats and cups. The character design had a small and charming feel.

After choosing bread, you take it to the counter and order drinks together. Once you go upstairs and find a seat, they call the receipt number over the speaker, so listen carefully. Tableware, tissues, and straws are self-service.

I brought the bread upstairs first. There seemed to be three or four plate designs, and I chose a green plate because it is my favorite color.

After a short wait, my number was called and I went back down for the drinks. I really could not imagine what orange coffee would taste like.

They said to mix it well. It had an orange slice and what looked like a dried flower on top. After removing the flower and stirring it, the first sip tasted unusual but not bad. My friend liked it a lot. It was a refreshing coffee flavor.

There were many sofa seats and the interior was spacious, so it was comfortable for resting and chatting. If I come back around Jongno or Euljiro, I would like to try another pretzel.
