Original Anchovy Noodles 2nd Branch in Anyang Hogye-dong
A source-grounded Anyang Hogye-dong noodle review covering Original Anchovy Noodles 2nd Branch, 11:00-22:00 hours, Sunday closure, free building parking, anchovy noodles, kaljebi, bibimbap, and dumplings.
Hi, this is Ijjingne. Today I went out for a simple noodle meal near home. This is the Hogye 2nd branch, and there was also a 1st branch not far away. It already gave off good-restaurant vibes.
They are closed every Sunday, and the hours are 11:00-22:00. There was also free parking in the building.

The exterior was easy to spot. Inside, it felt clean and well maintained, cozy but with plenty of tables.

There were more menu options than I expected, so I had trouble choosing for a while.
Anchovy noodles Kaljebi Bibimbap Half meat and half kimchi dumplings
I was a little hungry, so each of us chose one main dish and added dumplings. I like the combination of noodles and dumplings, so when I go to a noodle place I almost always order dumplings too.

Side dishes and water were self-serve, so I brought them myself. At a good noodle place, the kimchi has to be delicious, and this kimchi really was. I went back for it twice. There was also seasoned pickled radish that even kids who cannot eat kimchi could enjoy. The best part was a seasoning sauce, maybe for dipping dumplings or adding to noodles. Eating dumplings with the Cheongyang chili in it was so good: spicy and salty in the best way.

The anchovy noodle broth was truly light and savory, and I liked the toppings too. Since the broth was not salty, it was perfect with kimchi.

The bibimbap came with anchovy noodle broth on the side. Nice touch from the owner. It had several kinds of vegetables and was generous.

I mixed it with chopsticks. Mixing it this way keeps the rice from clumping and helps everything blend well. If there is not enough sauce after mixing, they will give you more.

And this was the kaljebi I chose. The broth was similar to the anchovy noodles. The noodles and sujebi were really chewy, and the portion was bigger than expected, so one bowl made me very full. A seriously generous spot.

The dumplings came with seasoning sauce, but I liked dipping them in the sauce I brought from the self-serve bar even more. Eating them with Cheongyang chili added a nice spicy kick. They were steaming hot, so I ate them quickly. That is the fun of dumplings.

We cleared the bowls, including the dumplings, and left full. I only now realized there was a good noodle place this close to home. On days when I need a simple solo meal or crave noodles, I will go right away. In summer, they also sell makguksu, yeolmu noodles, and kongguksu. I love kongguksu, so I think I will go even more often in summer. #AnyangNoodles #AnyangSujebi #AnyangSoloMeal #HogyeDongNoodles #HogyeDongFood
