Bisu Izakaya in Anyang Hogye-dong: Highballs and Yuk Sashimi
A review of Bisu, an izakaya near Hogye Sageori in Anyang's Hogye-dong, covering solo seats, balanced Suntory and Jim Beam highballs, seafood jjamppong nabe with udon, and Hanwoo beef sashimi.
Hi, this is Ijjingne. Today I visited Bisu, an izakaya in Hogye-dong. It is located across from Irvine First in Hogye-dong, near Hogye Sageori.

Maybe it had not been open long, because there were congratulatory wreaths and plants.

The sign lighting was very pretty, and the large Japanese text made it easy to find. Even the small standing sign had a nice mood.
Here it is. It is close to Hogye Sageori. I had seen it often because it is near home, and I had wanted to visit. I finally went.

What was interesting was that there were a few seats that felt like solo-drinking tables. Since they had partitions, it seemed good for stopping by alone for a simple drink without feeling watched. It had a real Japan-like mood. The interior was fairly large, and the tables were wide, so the seating felt comfortable.

The basic snack was cabbage and mayo, just like an izakaya. It is the kind of thing you keep reaching for.
Hanwoo beef sashimi. Seafood jjamppong nabe with added udon noodles. Suntory highball. Jim Beam highball.
I had heard it was known for beef sashimi, so I ordered that right away. I also wanted soup, so I ordered jjamppong nabe, and since I went with my mom, we each kept it simple with one highball.

Suntory and Jim Beam. I have tried quite a few highballs, and honestly, the highballs here felt like the real thing. I have had many strange highballs that were only sweet and did not taste much like alcohol, but here the ratio of alcohol to mixer was just right. My mom thought about ordering one more highball too, but she held back because she was full.

The food came out, and the combination of sashimi and hot soup was really good. If you go here, try this combination.

There was a lot of seafood and plenty of vegetables. The soup was not too spicy, so it was just right. After one sip, I knew it needed noodles, so I added udon right away. The shrimp and squid were big, and the portion was generous enough to make us very full.

Then came the main event: the beef sashimi. The look was impressive, and the color of the sashimi was beautiful. I loved that they served gamtae to eat with it. Since I love wasabi, I also asked for more, and they brought it right away.

It looked so appetizing. The combination of seaweed, gamtae, sashimi, chili pepper, and chojang felt like the classic way to eat sashimi. It was also delicious with wasabi instead of chojang.

Another thing that was great: because we came in before 7, they took one highball off the bill. What a generous touch. I had already wanted to come again because it was good, so next time I should come before 7 for dinner too. I had a date with my mom and left very satisfied.
