Joeun Chuksan Bakdal-dong Butcher Shop in Anyang
A self-paid review of Joeun Chuksan, a Bakdal-dong butcher shop near Sambong Elementary School, with fresh pork belly for charcoal grilling, large eggs, side ingredients, and local currency payment.
Hi, this is Ijjingne. Today I was planning to grill pork belly outdoors, so after packing things at home, my last stop was the butcher shop to buy meat.

If you live in Bakdal-dong, you probably know this place. It is across from the back gate of Sambong Elementary School, in the Gocheung Sinan shopping arcade.
The writer says it opens every day, with Sunday opening at 1:00. As far as I know, it has been in this location for more than 10 years. My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think it was there when I was in elementary school too. That feels like proof of a truly local favorite.

I bought only pork belly, and because we were going to cook it over charcoal, I asked them to score the meat. I do not know much about the amount, so when I say how many people will eat, they cut it to match. It always ends up just right when everyone eats until full.

Prices may change with market prices, so use them only as a reference. Also, the large eggs here are really big and very fresh, so my family only eats eggs from this shop.

If there are ingredients you missed at the market, do not worry because you can buy them here. The source mentions ssam vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, cheonggukjang, ssam-mu, wasabi, peppers, bean sprouts, various seasonings, sauces, and more. There is also beef bone broth you should buy if you see it. The owner makes it directly with Hanwoo beef bones and packs it, and it ends up being useful in many dishes.

They also accept local currency, which is great. Now we took the packaged pork belly and headed out to grill meat.

The weather and sky were amazing. We set the table and lit the fire first, though it looked more like a campfire than a fire for grilling meat.

Scored pork belly is perfect for charcoal. The cuts were even, and the meat had a pretty pink color and shine. Just look at the ratio of fat to lean meat. It seemed like they use very good meat.

We put the meat on right away. I was not even hungry, but it still made my mouth water.

It cooked up golden and delicious. We also put my beloved chicken breast sausages on skewers and grilled them together.

We added naengi to the doenjang soup we had brought and boiled it again. For the finish, doenjang sulbap is the rule. Rice really does power Koreans.
We grilled it until golden and ate it deliciously. Even though I live in Hogye-dong, I am the person who goes all the way to Bakdal-dong for meat and eggs. This was a self-paid review after a very satisfying meal.
