JUNG03/28/2025Korea

A source-grounded review of A Twosome Place new kumquat cake bought at the Bakdal Sageori branch, including thawing notes, SKT discount details, and taste impressions.

Hi, this is Ijjingne. I heard A Twosome Place had released a new cake, so I bought one to try.

I bought it at the A Twosome Place Bakdal Sageori branch. There were none displayed in the showcase when I visited, so the staff brought one out from the freezer inside. They said it should be eaten after about 1 hour of thawing, but I was planning to wait a bit before eating it anyway, so I brought it home.

The cake was KRW 38,000. I use SKT Universe Pass, so I received a 30% discount and bought it for KRW 29,000. That was a KRW 9,000 discount. Even if you do not use Universe Pass, SKT telecom discounts may offer some benefit, so check before buying.

The top of the cake is piled with kumquats. It was bright, sweet, and exactly my style. The glossy look made it very appetizing.

The cake layers combine sheet cake, whipped cream, and kumquat mandarin compote. I did not thaw it for the full hour and ate it after about 40 minutes. The kumquat compote had softened like sherbet, and I actually liked it that way. The bread, cream, and still-cold compote made it taste even better.

We finished the whole cake in about 20 minutes. It tasted good, but it felt very small for the price. I did get the discount, but KRW 38,000 still seems expensive. If you just want to try it, there is also a smaller Icebox-style size, so starting with that might be better. Still, the bright, sweet flavor was delicious.
