Izakaya Myeongun in Anyang: Sashimi, Highballs, Reservations
A personal review of Izakaya Myeongun near Anyang Station, formerly called Beomgorae, with notes on its 2–3 person sashimi platter, Suntory highball, Catch Table reservations, hours, Sunday closure, and parking caveat.
Hello! Today I visited Izakaya Myeongun near Anyang Station. It used to be called Beomgorae, and I had heard a lot of good things about it back then, but I only made it there after the name changed.
Izakaya Myeongun

The location is somewhere between Anyang Station and Anyang Daengnidan-gil, near the Anyang Girls' High School intersection. It is not exactly right next to Anyang Station; it is about a 10-minute walk. Since I live nearby, it was easy for me to visit, but it may be a little inconvenient if you are coming by transit. 📍 Hours 17:00–24:00 Last order: 23:00 Closed every Sunday 📍 Parking Naver says parking is available, but personally I wondered if it would really be easy. This is a bar tucked into a narrow alley, and the space in front of the shop did not look wide. If you need parking, I recommend calling to check before you go.

My friend had reserved through Catch Table the day before, and when we arrived on time, a two-person table was already set for us. I could not take photos of the inside because it was already full, but the seating included two-person tables, bar seats, and four-person tables. The basic anju was cabbage with sauce. I mostly ate it for the sauce, and it was pretty good.

2–3 person sashimi platter Soju, highball
Since we came for a light first round, we ordered one sashimi platter and drinks. I noticed that if you scan the QR code attached to the table, the menu comes up and you can order from your phone.

The sashimi we ordered arrived. A staff member brought it over, but they did not explain the types of fish, so we just guessed as we ate.

The plate itself was a little small, but the sashimi pieces were generally on the larger side, and they tasted fresh. Maybe because it was a 2–3 person sashimi platter, some items had two pieces and some had three. It was not a filling amount for two people, but for sashimi, I thought the value was pretty good.

They also served gim seaweed with it, and it was delicious wrapped with a bit of wasabi.
The Suntory highball was good too. I do not really like highballs that taste like soft drinks with no alcohol flavor, but Myeongun's Suntory highball had an alcoholic note while still tasting refreshing.

I cannot remember whether we ordered the ice cream, received it as service, or got it through a review event, but it was really delicious. It tasted just like lemon sorbet from a fine dining restaurant, and I liked it even more than the lemon sorbet I had at a fine dining place in Yeonnam-dong.

If it was not on the menu, it might not be possible to order it, but even thinking about it again makes me want to eat it. I recommend Izakaya Myeongun as a local neighborhood bar in Anyang. The friend I went with is a regular here, and they said the other menu items are all good too. Since it is nearby, I will come again. There can be waits on weekends or during weekday peak times, so I recommend using Catch Table. #AnyangIzakaya #AnyangIlbeongaIzakaya #AnyangStationIzakaya #AnyangStationBar #AnyangIlbeongaBar #AnyangIlbeongaSashimi #AnyangSashimi #AnyangRestaurants
