Shibarama izakaya review in Anyang Ilbeonga

Hello! Today I visited Shibarama, an izakaya in Anyang Ilbeonga. The name sounded unusual, so I had been wanting to check it out for a while, and I finally made it there.

Shibarama near Anyang Station in Anyang Ilbeonga

The location is in Anyang Ilbeonga, near Anyang Station, on the main road by the old road area. Anyang Station is right nearby, so it is also easy to visit by subway. The source describes it as about a 2-minute walk. 📍 Business hours 16:00–02:00 Open until 04:00 on weekends. Because it stays open late, it works well as a second-round drinks spot. They also sell simple skewer snacks, so it seems convenient even if you visit later at night and just want something light with drinks. 📍 Parking Parking is not available. Using a nearby public parking lot is recommended. The Anyang Station Rotary public parking lot right in front is described as the closest option.

Group table near the entrance at Shibarama in Anyang

Interestingly, there is a group table right near the entrance. It looked like around six people could sit there. Since there were two of us, they guided us farther inside to a spot with a nicer atmosphere.

Atmospheric interior seating at Shibarama izakaya in Anyang

After passing through the entrance corridor and walking farther inside, this pretty interior appears. Because of the ceiling area, it had atmosphere whether visiting when it was still bright or after dark. The side with the cloth that says “be happy” is near the train tracks, so you can hear trains passing by. That gave it a bit of a pocha-style feeling and made the mood even better in a subtle way.

Beef sukiyaki with beer and soju order at Shibarama

Beef sukiyaki Beer, soju

Since this was our first stop of the night, we ordered sukiyaki, a broth-style dish, as our food. I had looked up a few reviews before visiting, and people said Shibarama’s sukiyaki was really generous. I tend to prefer soup or broth dishes for a first-round drinking spot, so I ordered it after reading those reviews — and it was a perfect choice.

Icy soju served at Shibarama in Anyang

Look at how the drinks came out. They served the soju with a thin layer of ice. Thanks to that, the somaek was very cold and tasted great. It seemed like the owner was cooking and serving alone, but both the food and drinks came out quickly without piling up, so there was nothing inconvenient while eating.

Banana brulee and welcome drink served before sukiyaki at Shibarama

Before the main dish came out, they brought the alcohol first along with banana brûlée — I am not sure whether it was a basic snack or a service snack. A welcome drink also came out. It had a flavor like sake or cheongju, and it was nice for opening up the appetite at the start. The banana was made with ripe banana, sprinkled with sugar, and torched, so it was incredibly sweet. After having a glass of somaek with the banana, the sukiyaki came out right on time.

Egg sauce served with Shibarama beef sukiyaki

They gave each person their own sauce, with one whole egg. They explained that the yolk should be mixed and used for dipping the meat, while the egg white should be added into the sukiyaki. My friend and I were cracking the eggs together and nervously trying not to break the yolks, which was pretty funny.

Generous beef sukiyaki with vegetables mushrooms and dumplings at Shibarama

Just look at how generous this sukiyaki was. The bottom was full of vegetables, the meat was piled high, and there were mushrooms and dumplings too. I was a little surprised that it included four dumplings.

Noodles inside the beef sukiyaki at Shibarama

There were noodles inside as well. Once you eat this one dish, the snacks are basically covered. I wanted to try other things too, but I was so full that I could not order more. This feels like the kind of place that would be fun to visit with more than two people so you can try several dishes. Next time, I want to come as a second-round stop and try the skewers too.

Sweet potato chips served during the meal at Shibarama

These were sweet potato chips they brought while we were in the middle of eating the sukiyaki. They also gave this as service. Even though we ordered just one food item, they kept sending out extra snacks. I enjoyed everything so much. The banana moved to the background once the sukiyaki came out, but the sweet potato chips paired so well with somaek that I kept reaching for them.
