Godo Beomgye Review: Anyang Solo Bar for Whiskey & Cocktails

Hello! Today I visited one of the trending solo drinking bars: Godo in Beomgye. This is a real, paid-out-of-pocket review. Solo drinking bars seem to be getting really popular lately. I think people like them because you can go alone, meet new friends, and have fun with people you have just met. I had mostly seen this kind of place in tourist areas, hot spots, or Seoul, so when I heard one had opened in Anyang, I went to check it out.

The interior atmosphere was great — it had that grown-up bar feeling. The location is right in front of Beomgye Station Exit 2, so it is easy to find because it is close to the station. Opening hours: 20:00 to 04:00 I did not notice a regular closing day mentioned. For parking, you can use the nearby Beomgye Station public parking lot.

As expected from a solo drinking bar, there were no table seats, only bar seats. It was a long L-shaped bar, and it seemed to be set up so people could sit facing others across the bar. There was lighting under the table area, and the inside was dim, which gave the space a nice mood.

There were quite a few drink options. Most of the menu was cocktails and whiskey, and there were also non-alcoholic drinks and simple snacks. I visited because I wanted to drink whiskey that day, so I first ordered my favorite, Signet. The Signet was good, and it was my first time trying Glenlivet, which was also quite tasty.

At Godo, each seat had a crocodile game. There were also various board games on one side. It seemed like they prepared them so people who came alone could play with the person next to them if they felt bored. The music was also emotional and nice. The atmosphere and music alone made the space appealing.

After ordering drinks, I was making small talk with the owner, and then suddenly a game started. We tried a discussion game using cards, and it was more fun than I expected. As time passed, more customers came in, and the owner helped arrange seats so no one felt uncomfortable. I ended up having more fun than I had expected.

I ordered whiskey on the rocks, and the amount was about this much. It was not a lot, so I ordered cocktails too, but whiskey is not really something you order for the amount, so I was fine with it. A woman sitting nearby ordered something, and the owner did a little fire show for it. I filmed it because it was interesting. Watching it, I felt like the owner was really serious about cocktails. The Long Tea he made was also quite good. I have had Long Tea several times before, but the one I had here suited my taste the most.

As more people arrived, we all played games together. It was surprisingly fun. Debating one topic with people I had never met before was funny and entertaining.

Godo only has simple finger-food-style snacks. If you need snacks or have something specific you want to eat, the review says it is okay to bring it or order delivery. The nachos were good, so if you want a simple snack, I recommend the nachos.

I had more fun than expected at Godo in Beomgye. It looks like several other solo drinking bars are opening too, and although I have not tried the others, I liked the atmosphere at Godo.
