Ansan Sherlock Holmes Time Attack Escape Room Review

I returned with another escape-room diary and visited Ansan. Sherlock Holmes Ansan is known for time-attack escape rooms, so this was my first attempt at that format.

Sherlock Holmes is on the 3rd floor of the Central Rock building in Ansan Jungang-dong. It is close to Jungang Station, and free parking is provided. After getting off the elevator, turning left reveals signs that make it easy to find. In the time-attack format, escaping earlier than the set time reduces the later payment by 350 won per minute, which can be a value choice for skilled players.

There are four themes, and there is no horror theme. The listed themes are Test, Natbam, Bangtal Sunangi and Gojan-ro 108. Natbam is more than 90% separated, Test is a very difficult puzzle-room theme, Bangtal Sunangi is about 50% separated but can be played without separation if requested, and Gojan-ro 108 is an outdoor theme. After reading reviews, I chose Bangtal Sunangi and reserved before visiting.

Sherlock Holmes requires visitors to change shoes. Slippers are prepared by size, so guests choose a pair that fits before entering.

The shoe cabinet looked unusual, and the backless indoor slippers were comfortable during the escape.

There was also discount information. Writing Instagram or Naver reviews could receive different discounts, and a movie-ticket event was also shown.

If choosing a theme is difficult, I suggest using the short theme guide. Looking again, Natbam also seemed fun because competing with a friend would feel different.

After storing belongings inside, visitors write a consent form and listen to the theme explanation. Near the entrance, a board showed fastest escape records, including a surprising nine-minute escape.

Visitors sit at the table, complete the consent form and receive a short explanation before starting. Staff explained unfamiliar locks and how to use the radio carefully.

I recommend reading the rules carefully. Because this is a time-attack store, if players fail to escape, the remaining story is not explained. Hints are unlimited, so I suggest using them wisely and aiming to see the ending.

I used about six hints. Because the theme involved separation, it felt harder than solving together. To see the ending, I used all the hints near the end and escaped.

Overall, I still found it fun. It was my first separated theme, which made it interesting, and I want to book Natbam next time because the competitive setup sounds exciting.
