Woogi Pocha in Seonbu-dong, Ansan: Bar Snacks Review
A third-visit review of Woogi Pocha in Seonbu-dong, Ansan, with shrimp fondue, kimchi fried rice, soju, cute bear details, late hours, and a lively pocha feel.
Hi! I made a quick trip to Ansan for a light drinks meet-up. When people drink in Seonbu-dong, they usually head toward Dongmyeong. This is Woogi Pocha, an Ansan hot spot located in Dongmyeong.

There was a cute mirror at the entrance. The bear character was so cute, and it shows up again later in an even cuter way.

The inside was very clean, and the neon sign was adorable. I visited early on a weekday evening, so there were quite a few open seats, but by the time we left the tables were starting to fill. I like coming for either a first or second round, but because it has a pocha feel, it seemed like many people stop by for round two. For reference, I visited around 10 p.m. on a weekend about three weeks earlier and had to wait because there were no seats. It is a popular Seonbu-dong spot.

Since I came right after work, we ordered dishes that could fill us up. It was not on this visit, but this place also makes really good chadol jjamppong. Among the soups, I recommend the chadol jjamppong.

After ordering, they set the table with the basic snack, the Woogi bear. That cute orange was the Woogi bear. There were bears on the glasses too, so I had to take photos with them.

A little later, the shrimp fondue came out first. I was surprised once by the size of the shrimp, then touched again because it came with baguette. The sauce underneath was generous and thick, so dipping into it felt like the third happy moment. The rose sauce was so good. When I picked up the baguette, dipped the shrimp in the sauce, and ate it together with the bread, it was pure happiness.

Next was kimchi fried rice. It was not just plain kimchi fried rice: it had stretchy cheese and a fried egg on top. The owner clearly knows a good flavor combination. The fried rice was good on its own, and it tasted even better with the cheese.

As you eat, the shrimp fondue can start to feel a little rich. Taking a bite of fondue and then a spoonful of kimchi fried rice balanced it out perfectly.

We talked about the day, chatted, and drank soju. A friend suddenly wondered where the Woogi bears were made, asking if they might be sold as finished products. Question answered: it seems like the shop makes them in-house. No wonder the orange was so moist and sweet.

We took a photo together at the cute photo zone near the entrance and wrapped up the meet-up. It was a really tasty bar. If you are looking for good anju in Ansan, I fully recommend it.
